to my frustration I found out I had lost the GM single :o I have no idea where the hell it disappeared into  But the best part is, when I remembered about them, I soon came across the news that Ambrosia was releasing solo stuff! Now wasn't that a wicked co-incidence! :D

I would have been pissed off if i would have lost any of my Shivaree singles. Do you remember which version of the single it was? There are several releases out there for some of shivaree's singles. I'm just curious to know which one you had.

As far as your "coincidence" i would call it luck! Why? Simply because it seems to me you have not spent a ton of time waiting and waiting. Luckly for you when you remembered them, Ambrosia is soon to release something. I really really hope this time it's for real. I don't know what could possibly be taking this long. :?

Luck indeed, yeah :)

As for the single, I'm pretty sure it was this version:

http://www.amazon.com/Goodnight-Moon-Sh ... B000056O9H

The site doesn't mention the other tracks, but I do remember the one was 'Scrub' (couldn't forget it as I liked is so much) and the other must have been 'My Boy Lollipop'.

I'm not giving up hopes though. I'll have a look through my CDs again, maybe it's somewhere and I can't see it *crosses fingers* I've moved twice since buying the CD, and things always tend to mess up at my place, lol.

I really want to get that version. That one is a Maxi single. I have Maxi version as well with the exact same track listing. The version I have is the "gold" background behind Ambrosia. That was the version released in Italy. I'm actually looking to buy that Maxi with the pink cover. I know i'm a little off to want to buy something i already have but i really want it.

And yes, Scrub is an excellent song and should have been in the album. I think another track that should have made it's released is the cover of "you don't know what love is". Or at least should have made it's release as a B-side in one of the singles. That songs is amazing in Abrosia's voice.

Also (a little off topic), they did the song "a woman is the nigger of the world" for that radio station. That was an amazing cover done for "the open road" radio show. In fact, the song "I don't care" made it to their Corrupt and Immoral Transmissions EP and had it not been for the fact taht Ambrosia Spoke during the song "a woman is..." that song would have made it in. At least that's my guess.

I think one of the reasons why the album "Tainted love" is my least favorite is that it was a covers album and i did not include songs that Shivaree had covered before that were perfect for it, missed the track list AND we still ended up only with an 11 track album :(

Yeah, the covers album could have been really great if there was more on it. Well OK if you consider the other covers they've done and were released either on albums or as b-sides, it's a good deal of stuff. But yeah, why not include more songs they've covered and are not on any official release.

I did search for the CD again, still no luck  There's one more place I need to look, and if it's not there either, it means it's gone forever :( Of course I did download it, but I wanted to have the physical copy too, since I did have it originally

LOL no, you are not; I know the feeling, believe me :D In the past it did occur to me to buy a second copy of an album I already had, because it was a different release  It's just that I don't do that anymore due to the lack of money.

I'm kind of on the same boat then. There is one on ebay right now but i don't know if i wanna cough up an extra $15 bucks for something i don't "need" right now. But i really really want it. I don't know if you've see the picture I've posted on the forum with my Shivaree collection, but this single would look so great next to all of that. heheheh I'm such a dork.

By the way, There is a "goodnight moon" single out there that has the exact same track listing as "Corrupt and immoral transmissions" (GM live, IDC live, scrub and MBL). That is some weird way to release material. It was very obvious Shivaree had way more promo in the first album then the rest of them. Lets see, if i'm not mistaking, there are 2 releases of "I oughtta give you a shot" plus a sampler with i think 5 or six songs from the album, the GM single has at least 5 different releases, and the Bossa Nova single has at least 3 different versions. I wish Ambrosia would do the whole Maxi single for her new album. This is great for adding a few more songs that weren't "good enough" for the album. I doubt that will happen because it's an independent label (i think).

"I oughtta give you a shot..." got a lot of promo because of Goodnight Moon, it was a huge hit when it was first released as a single. You could see the video on MTV and other music channels all the time. It was a very unique sound so people got very interested. Well, it still is unique, but imagine back then - it was one of a kind. There are two releases of that album indeed, one with Ambrosia on the cover and another one showing a building. The one I have is the first.

No I haven't seen your collection, haven't browsed around the forum yet; will do now though! :) Although I did play around abit with trying avatars and such, lol.

Where are you from? I first moved to the USA when i was like 8 in 1995. That means I would have been 12-13 years old when GM came out. I don't remember ever ever ever seeing on TV or hearing it on the radio. This song was so brand new to me in 2004. I know shivaree had lots and lots of luck in Europe and I know they were super popular there but I had ever heard of this band in 2000 (much less 1999 when the single came out).

If the version you have is the one with Ambrosia on the cover, then I think that was the European release. I have two copies of the American release (one copy being a cardboard type paper of the very first release and the other one of the re-issuing of the album with a glossy paper).

There is also two releases of "Rough Dreams" (the very first release with the limited edition logo on the corner and the re release that has a differed CD design. This was done because the label was refusing to release the album in the first place due to contract disagreements. Unfortunately, nothing new is in the rerelease :( What a surprise.

Hi, sorry for this extremely late reply!!! :( I lost my password and couldn't remember which email I used to register so that I could have it restored... But just today I had something like a flashback, the password came back to me  I didn't expect it to work because I was sure it was the wrong one, but it did!!! :) Hope you are still here!

To answer your question, I'm from Greece. The only copy I remember seeing in the stores was the one with Ambrosia on the cover. When GM was released in 1999, I think (not sure) that we still had MTV UK airing here via satellite (it's been a few years now that we can't watch it directly). But back then, it was probably still airing, and even if I don't remember well and it was not, we surely had a local music channel called MAD, which used to play all the new songs from all genres. It's still airing today, still very successful but like MTV nowadays, they play mostly those songs that are promoted to be commercial hits. To give you an idea, about ten years ago you could watch heavy metal video clips among others during shows. Of course MTV had the special show Headbangers Ball which was dedicated to heavy metal, but during other shows they would also play heavy metal songs. Same with our MAD channel. Now MAD has one show about heavy metal, called TV War, and it's exiled after midnight one day a week.

So to get back to my original point, back then it was much easier to get to know a new song of any kind. Record labels were always powerful, but they didn't have so much influence. If a channel or a radio station wanted to play a song that wasn't promoted by a label that much, they would still do it. Now they get this list with which songs to play and you get to watch/listen the same songs everywhere.

Hey guys and girls.

Just want to let you all know that a re-recorded version of "Goodnight Moon" was released by Ambrosia Parsley and The Elegant Too in the soundtrack for the film "Silver Linings Playbook". You can sample it here:

http://www.amazon.com/Goodnight-Moon/dp ... ia+parsley

I bought it. It's different/more electronic and experimental than the original recording but at the same time, it remains almost the same. I like it but, in my opinion, it's not as good as the first one.

Yet another song pops up where Ambrosia has collaborated. It's a cover of Queen of the stone age. The song is called "The blood is love" and it rocks.

Enjoy.
